About the Sketchbook |
Artists keep sketchbooks for a variety of different reasons. Some use them to experiment with ideas or to record particular places and experiences. Others use sketchbooks to work out details of a larger project such as a painting, sculpture, or mural. As developing artists, the sketchbooks will be used to sharpen the skill of seeing, to develop technical mark-making ability, and to compose a well-designed drawing. The best way to develop as an artist is to practice repeatedly. This sketchbook, in addition to class, is meant to allow you the space to practice.

The Assignments
|
Each assignment should have at least two completed drawings. These drawings should take approximately 30 minutes each (for a total of one hour). In addition to the two completed drawings each assignment should have multiple thumbnail sketches for each that serve as “rough drafts” for your final drawings.
